So I went to Brunches, a deli-type store across the street from work, the other day. Incredibly they don't serve many potato products. However, they make excellent sandwiches, and I tend to go there a lot when I'm planning on eating my lunch at my desk.
This day I walk in and decide I'd like some potato chips - I hadn't had my quota of my favorite vegetable yet so I thought I'd try to catch up. The chips were all the way in the back, so I asked "What chips do you have?" She responded that they didn't have chips. At first I was confused and then remembered that I should have asked for crisps. Argh.
But what was really annoying is that the woman behind the counter was from the states. Yes, I should speak "properly," but surely she could have covered for my faux pas!
